If you want to get your serious classic fiction on, Richard Matheson’s original I Am Legend is what you shall seek. With an original story, excellent character development, and an exciting twist, I Am Legend is one of the best works of vampire fiction of all time.

The book is nearly timeless. When you read it, it does not feel like you are reading a book published in 1954. Since 1954 Hollywood has tried to transition the book to film three times. In 1964 they made The Last Man On Earth, 1971 they failed hard with The Omega Man, and finally in 2007 they got closer with I Am Legend starring Will Smith. Still, sadly after two tries they refused to use the original storyline and instead they dumbed it down to mediocrity and beefed it up with a famous actor, explosions, terrible CGI vampiremummyzombies, and two wrong endings.

Who are we kidding. They never get it right anyway. So check out the original and get a good dose of excellent undead fiction.
